From the reviews, I expected this guitar to be a steal. However, I got just what I paid for, an OK sounding, possibly moldy, below average guitar.

When I first opened it, I had very high expectations and hopes. However, I was a little disappointed when I saw that the paint was not that full, looked like it needed another coat. I was happy that the guitar came with D'addario strings, (phosphor bronze wound) but they weren't my style (too bright) so I immediately replaced them with Elixer Nanoweb. However, that still didn't fit me. As you can see, I'm still new in the string business, and will probably try D'addario Silk and Steel next time.

Speaking of changing the strings, the high e tuning peg was very loose. I fixed this problem with a handy screwdriver. When I tried to release the string, it would not spin all the way out, so I could not change the string. It spins just enough for me to tune comfortably, but impossible to change the string. The peg was also very oily.

The guitar sounds loud and deepish, but not considerably so compared to my old guitar. Yes, the Rogue is better, but only slightly.

After playing for a bit, I noticed that the lower block of wood on the inside next to the hole was covered in dust, and looked like mold. This immediately dropped 2 stars from my hopeful state. Also, the lining of the guitar hole was not completely painted, there were small patches of visible wood.

At first glance, people would see this as a below-average guitar, and people may or may not see the unpainted lining. Although I'm no expert on guitars, I would save up a little more to buy a better guitar if I were you.

On a side note, I bought this from Musician's Friend. It arrived a bit later than expected, and the flaws might be because of them.

Cheap Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Guitar, Black

Over All Rating Reviews :

I've been playing guitar for about 10 years on and off and after looking at the reviews, I decided to buy this one instead of the takamine. The guitar was packed very well inside two boxes and arrived in a week. The reason why I gave this guitar a 4 star rating is that the action is too high and the strings have to be replaced. But after I had the strings replaced and the neck adjusted, it sounds pretty well. You have to play on it everyday though to "soften" the strings a little bit. This is my rugged all purpose guitar while I'm saving money for a Taylor. It's ok. Can't complain for the price I paid for it. And did I mention that it looks very good for a starter guitar. The finish is really attractive.

Last Minute Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Guitar, Black

Over All Rating Reviews :

I am a beginner and ordered this guitar as a starter. While I have musical experience, I have not paid guitar until recently. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality, particularly at this price. I have inspected other guitars in this price range and none of them came close to this one in terms of quality, both in appearance and sound.

The guitar stays in tune very well, which is particularly important to me as a novice. The strings it came with are nice quality strings. Tuning the guitar was easy and the guitar could be manipulated smoothly.

It is also beautiful to look at. There are no rough or unfinished edges.

You can't go wrong with this one.

Where To Buy Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Guitar, Black

Over All Rating Reviews :

I am not a guitar pro, but have had 3-4 guitars previously and found this one pretty difficult to play. The strings were placed way too high off the fretboard and had to press really hard to get a decent enough sound.

After making a few innovative adjustments, I have been able to play it to produce sound which is decent enough and I have been living with it. However as compared to the sound from some other guitars (a little costlier than this one) it sounds a little dull.

Given all the good reviews we have for this guitar, I am not sure if my piece had some problems. But I realized, to purchase things like a gutar, it is always better to go to the shop, play the guitar and purchase the one which sounds good and you feel comfortable with. You might end up paying maybe an extra 10-20 bucks, but you will not have second thoughts about your purchase.

I looked online for about 2 weeks for a guitar. I read all the reviews on for this guitar and purchased it. It arrived in 2 days with standard shipping. I haven't played a guitar for about 25 years. When I opened the box and pulled it out I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing it needed was a little tuning. The sound is great; like some guitars I've looked at that cost $200. I give t five stars and it deserves them. I would definately recommend this instrument.

I bought this for my son for Christmas. When researching for an acoustic guitar, not knowing what I was looking for or anything about guitars, I depended upon the ratings and opinions on the product. My son was overwhelmed. It was just what he wanted and had researched himself. He is 30 years old and had a good idea what he wanted. I was able to surprise him and please him at the same time.

I've owned this guitar for about 4 months, and am pretty pleased with it. For the price, you can't beat it. The sound is adequate. It seems durable- I've accidentally knocked it over several times, and nothing has broken or come apart. It comes rigged with a decent set of strings too, I'm a lefty so I immediately took them off and strung them the opposite way, and they're still hanging in there. I highly recommend this guitar for a beginner, or for someone who simply wants an inexpensive guitar to take with them or practice alternate tunings with.

I've been playing the violin for 20-plus years and the guitar for at least 10 years, so I guess you could say I'm a fairly accomplished musician. As a musician, I have to say that this guitar is worth much more than its asking price. It looks great and sounds even better, especially considering that it costs so little to buy! I've owned several guitars and this one sounds just as good as any of the other popular brands. It's easy to tune and hold its tune just right. The proportions are nice, too, and fits nicely with my small hands. I'd recommend this to anyone, especially anyone looking to learn and practice. The black color looks great, too. By the way, I ordered this guitar on June 5th and it arrived to me on June 8th -- talk about fast!

SO i got this guitar neatly wrapped complete with the feeling of getting something new, however the guitar knob for the 3rd string was faulty and now i have to turn it the wrong way to tune it higher..that sucked, i spent an hour trying to fix that knob, before i realized it cant be repaired..At the end of the day, the guitar sounds great and the strings provided are impeccable..

Buying Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Guitar, Black

Over All Rating Reviews :

This is a very beautiful guitar - if you buy the right strings for it. I purchased this guitar for much less at musician's friend, but for the price, you can not beat the sound of this guitar. The truss rod will eventually need adjusting, but I've been playing it for well over two years and it hasn't needed a tune up until now. The screws in the top just finally came loose, but that's an easy fix with a screwdriver. The fingerboard and frets are far more flawless than that of other guitars I've used for the same price. I just recently purchased a Jasmine S35 Takamine acoustic and this guitar has a much fuller sound than that one (unless you put classical guitar strings on them, that makes the Jasmine sound oddly amazing). If you can't find a guitar laying around somewhere for free that simply needs strings and you're looking to start out with a guitar, this would be a good one to start out. The neck thickness isn't the best to start out with (starting out with a thicker neck is better in my opinion because the thicker the neck, the easier it will be to play guitars with thinner necks). I suggest replacing the strings with Elixir Lights and tightening anything that loosened when shipping. Worse comes to worse, the most you'll have to do to it is adjust the truss rod if the action is too high or low(fret buzz - ugh) but take it in to get a professional to do it because "cheaper" guitars can be touchy. Of all the guitars I own - of all different price ranges - this is my go-to guitar. It's brilliant, and cheap enough that you don't have to be too afraid of playing too hard on it so buy it! You won't be disappointed.

I wasn't as impressed as other reviewers. My guitar came neatly packed, looked great, Tuned it up and am experiencing very loud buzzing from the 3rd fret whenever a string is held on the 2nd fret. The buzz is most noticeable on the D string. I don't know if this is an easy repair or not, however, I'll still have to take it to a shop before it will be playable. Maybe I got a lemon, but never the less I'm disappointed.

Top 10 Places to Buy Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Guitar, Black

Over All Rating Reviews :

I purchased this guitar for my husband as a birthday gift. He knows quite a bit about guitars and although he prefers electric guitars, he had been wanting an acoustic for a few reasons and for quite some time now. Over the past 6 months, I learned just how particular he was about the guitar's sound, color, and overall feel, etc., which is why I was a bit nervous about getting him a guitar for his birthday although I knew it would be a great gift for him. Anyway, I settled on this guitar and when he opened it he was really surprised and really excited to try it out. He loved it. He loved the black color, he loved the tuning machines, and the Martin strings. The sound quality was excellent, we were both surprised--I was surprised because I knew how much the guitar was; he was surprised with the sound quality because he had never even heard of Rogue guitars before. He told me that he loves how I choose his gifts. He plays the guitar everyday (if he can), and still really enjoys it! Thanks!!

The only real complaint I have about this acoustic guitar is that there is only one strap pin. Where the other end of the strap should go...nothing is there! I was a little surprised. Perhaps it was a fluke, but that is really my only problem with the guitar. Otherwise, it's been great.

PLEASE SAVE YOUR BOX AND INVOICE. If you are going to buy this guitar, make sure it works as soon as you receive it. When I received it, I noticed it didn't sound properly and the strings rattled over the sound of any note. I was away for two months after and when I came back I decided to bring it to the local shop to find out what was wrong with it. He said the neck is bent in the wrong direction and it's beyond repair. Unfortunately, I did not save the box so I would be charged a 15% restock fee to ship it back (keep in mind there is NO way they can resell this, and if they were to try then what does that say about the company?) and it's beyond the 45 day warranty so they will not pay for shipping. If I'm lucky, I would end up getting $20 back for this guitar. Please do yourself a favor and save your money for a real, working guitar. It is not worth the stress, time, and money to send it back.

However, they get 1 star for quickly responding and being pleasant through all the complaints. Even if my problem wasn't solved.
